25 Years of Girls on the Run Georgia: Gamma Phi Beta

Girls on the Run Georgia is celebrating 25 years of inspiring confidence in girls across Georgia, and each month, we’re spotlighting supporters who have played a crucial role in shaping our council.

This month, we’re proud to spotlight Gamma Phi Beta, a valued Girls on the Run national partner whose members have been integral to our mission season after season. From volunteering as coaches and 5K-day cheer stations to helping spread the word about our programs on campus and in the community, Gamma Phi Beta members have shown what it means to embody strength, compassion, and leadership.

Gamma Phi Beta and Girls on the Run became partners in 2012, aligning with Gamma Phi Beta’s philanthropic focus of Building Stronger Girls. This shared commitment to empowering girls through confidence, connection, and compassion laid the foundation for a strong and lasting partnership. In 2022, the organizations celebrated their 10-year anniversary, making a decade of collaboration and impact. Since the partnership began, Gamma Phi Beta has raised over $4 million nationally for Girls on the Run.

Girls on the Run Georgia began working with local Gamma Phi Beta chapters from Kennesaw State University, Emory University, and the University of Georgia as soon as the partnership was announced, and they’ve been incredible partners ever since. These chapters have raised nearly $50,000 collectively through creative and spirited fundraising events like campus 5Ks and Moonball tournaments, a signature philanthropy event held annually by the sorority’s collegiate chapters, all to support girls in our programs across Georgia. Their generosity has helped ensure that more girls can participate in Girls on the Run, regardless of their financial circumstances.

Beyond fundraising, Gamma Phi Beta members have shown up for our girls in countless ways. They’ve volunteered at our 5Ks helping with setup, cheered along the course, celebrated girls at the finish line by passing out medals, and brought extra sparkle at our Happy Hair stations. Many members have also served as coaches, mentoring teams and empowering girls to recognize their limitless potential.

Their dedication to building stronger girls and stronger communities continues to make a lasting impact. We’re so grateful for Gamma Phi Beta’s ongoing partnership and for turning our shared vision into action inspiring confidence, connection, and joy for girls across Georgia.
