At Girls on the Run, our volunteer coaches are truly the heart of our organization, and we couldn’t do what we do without their support and dedication. Each season, hundreds of volunteer coaches spend countless hours preparing for twice-a-week lessons, coaching and mentoring our girls, and getting ready to complete a 5K. And the positive impact they have on the girls in our program is immeasurable!
We recognize that serving as a volunteer coach at Girls on the Run requires a huge commitment, which is why we wanted to give a WOW Energy Award to some very special Girls on the Run coaches who celebrated 10, 15, and 20 seasons of coaching this fall. Much gratitude and appreciation to all our coaches who celebrated anniversaries this past season.

Tanya started with Girls on the Run back in 2014 when her daughter joined the program, and she quickly realized this was so much more than running. Since then, she has coached at Clairemont, F.Ave, and Beacon Hill and has remained committed season after season. Tanya was a Girls on the Run staff member and remains an avid supporter and ambassador while continuing to coach. Her kind and thoughtful approach to the participants on her teams have helped them find their voice, be their true selves and find joy in life.
Tanya says there’s never been a season without a moment that stops her in her tracks and reminds her just how meaningful this program is for the girls in our community.
Tanya, thank you for showing up for our participants, and for 20 seasons of impact.
